Talqeen 1 and 2 are transitory levels that are not necessarily required by all students during the progression of their Qur’an learning journey.

Talqeen is suitable for students who require further effort in overcoming major mistakes (لحن جلي) or for students who have completed the IQRA books but are still developing their fluency in recitation.

In Talqeen 1, students will concentrate on reciting from the Mus’haf with fluency while giving particular attention to the application of the rules of Noon sakinah and tanween, meem sakinah and some general madd rules. This level also focuses on correcting any major mistakes that may be present in the recitation as well as fixing articulation points (makhaarij) and characteristics (sifaat) of the letters if need be.

Students also delve into the application of certain unique rules of recitation where applicable, such as Sakt, Alifaat as-sabaa’ etc.

  2. Meem Saskinah

  3. Noon and Meem with a shaddah

  4. Some madd rules - Natural (Tabi’ee), Connected(Muttassil), Disconnected (Munfassil)

Note: the above mentioned content is not covered in detail at this stage, but rather students are given the basics in order to aid in the correct application of such rules.
In depth study of the theory occurs in more advanced levels.


Recitation Test :

Juz’ Tabarak (29th) & Juz’ A’mma (30th)

Memorisation :

  1. Surat Al-Fatihah

  2. Ayat al-Kurs

  3. Last verses of Surat Al-Baqara (starting from : لله ما في السماوات until the end)

  4. From Surat Al-Qaria’a up until Surat an-Naas.

Assessment:
After the completion of the level, students undergo an internal assessment and recommendations are given by the assessing teacher

Upon completion of this level, students will be internally assessed and recommended to either continue on to Talqeen 2 or to advance to the introductory levels of tajweed.
